Ragusa Italian Ice cream

Ragusa Es Italia is an ice cream shop that was founded in 1932 in Batavia or know as Jakarta. Ragusa was established by Ragusa Brothers which came from Italy and open up the original ice cream in old Gambir market. 

This ice cream place has been retaining their vintage touches and ambiance by not replacing the old school furniture, antique wooden paintings, and olden pictures. Even the menu is still the same as the one I saw a few years ago. Spaghetti ice cream is always the favorite choice. It is vanilla ice cream put into a mold, producing fat and long spaghetti like shape. The colourful effect is added by the sukade or sugar pickled fruit, melted chocolate which freezes quickly, and crushed peanuts. It is sugary but won’t make you wince, the ice cream include mini bits of ice flakes, but they aren't disturbing the whole combination. It is good to spend your day here to relieve from the heat of Jakarta in lunch break.
